Recently, India's Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers announced the temporary suspension of mandatory quality standards for n-Butyl Acrylate (CAS No. 141-32-2) due to global supply chain disruptions. n-Butyl Acrylate is a colorless transparent liquid with a characteristic odor and is an important monomer in the acrylate family. As a key industrial chemical, it is widely used in the production of polymers, adhesives, coatings, sealants, textiles, and plastic additives, with significant applications in construction, automotive, packaging, and consumer goods.
The Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals, under the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, issued a revised notification stating that from April 10, 2026, to July 10, 2026, relevant enterprises are exempt from complying with the applicable Indian standards. The decision was made in consultation with the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) to ensure that the supply of n-Butyl Acrylate remains unaffected.
The Indian government stated that this temporary measure aims to prevent supply chain disruptions and ensure market availability of the substance. The suspension of the quality control order is a temporary arrangement, and the relevant quality standards are expected to be reinstated after July 10, 2026.
