On October 26, 2026, the Australian Industrial Chemicals Introduction Scheme (AICIS) announced that, pursuant to section 85 of the Industrial Chemicals Act 2019, it had made corrections on October 23 to the entry information of 57 chemicals on the Australian Inventory of Industrial Chemicals (AIIC).
Content and Scope of the Corrections
The corrections involve two items of entry information: name and molecular formula. The names of all 57 chemicals have been uniformly updated to the Chemical Abstracts Service (CAS) names, with the molecular formulas of some of the substances updated at the same time. The reasons for the changes fall into two categories: "CAS updated the chemical name" and "the Inventory name has been updated to the CAS name".
By chemical category, the corrections mainly involve polysiloxanes (siloxanes), covering various substitution types including dimethyl, methylphenyl, vinyl-terminated, epoxy, amino, and mercapto. The remaining substances are a small number of varieties such as phosphoric acid-propylene oxide polymers, benzenesulfonates, azo/reactive dyes, copper phthalocyanines and terpene derivatives.

This correction only revises how the names and molecular formulas are presented in the Inventory and does not change the identity of the substances; the listed substances will continue to be managed under their original entries, and the enterprises concerned need not make any additional declaration. Enterprises exporting to Australia that deal in the above substances are advised to search the AIIC to confirm the latest name of the substances they use, and to keep substance names consistent across declarations, SDSs and other documents.
