South Korea Updates Existing Chemicals

Existing Chemical Substances

On June 1, 2023, the Ministry of Environment of Korea (MoE) released Notice 2023-122 on the amendment of existing chemicals. In accordance with the provision of Paragraph 3, Article 2 of the Act on the Registration and Evaluation of Chemicals, a total of 209 chemical substances is hereby published.

In the following are the revised contents:

  • Because of the expiration of data protection, actual name of chemical substances is provided (amounting to 201 substances), 4 substances aredeleted because of their identical property and their KE No. are: 2015-3-6233; 2015-3-6256; 2016-3-7172; 2017-3-7250.
  • In Notice 2023-122, chemical substances are assigned with corresponding CAS number; additional name of substances are added based on their CAS number. Here are their KE No.: 99-3-1196; 99-3-1197; 99-3-1198; 2000-3-1648; 2011-3-5262.

Details of these substances are listed in Annex 2. The Notice shall enter into force after its publication.
