India Releases Draft Hazardous and Other Wastes (Management and Transboundary Movement) Amendment Rules, 2023

On May 10th, India's Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) published the Draft Hazardous and Other Wastes (Management and Transboundary Movement) Amendment Rules, 2023 which specifies the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) for used oil. This Draft also introduces the Environment Impact Assessment (EIA) scheme to provide specific instructions for petroleum exploration and production activities in accordance the Environment Protection Act. Public comments will be submitted within 60 days from the date of publication of this Draft. Stakeholders can email their comments to the MoEFCC.
