On September 25, 2025, the National Health Commission and the State Administration for Market Regulation released Announcement No. 6 of 2025, officially issuing the revised National Food Safety Standard "Coatings and Coated Materials for Food Contact Materials and Articles" (GB 4806.10-2025). The standard will come into full force on September 2, 2026, signaling China's entry into a new era of "full-chain, full-coverage" oversight for food-contact coatings.
Compared with the 2016 edition, the new standard for the first time brings paper-based coatings and coatings that only indirectly contact food under regulatory control, and expands the positive list of basic raw materials from 105 to 346 substances.
