Letter on Public Solicitation of Information for the Indicative List of Long-Chain Perfluorocarboxylic Acids, Their Salts, and Related Compounds, and Other Two Lists

This announcement solicits opinions on three documents (appendices): "Indicative List of Long-Chain PFCAs and Their Salts and Related Compounds," "Updated Indicative List of PFOA and Its Salts and Related Compounds," and "Updated Indicative List of PFHxS and Its Salts and Related Compounds." The deadline for submitting opinions is May 19, 2025. The "Indicative List of Long-Chain PFCAs and Their Salts and Related Compounds" specifies a list of long-chain perfluorocarboxylic acids, their salts, and related compounds covered under the Stockholm Convention, including the CAS numbers, abbreviations, names (CAS numbers or OECD PFAS database names), and other information. The "Updated Indicative List of PFOA and Its Salts and Related Compounds" provides illustrative lists of PFOA, its salts, and related compounds covered under the Rotterdam and Stockholm Conventions, as well as illustrative lists of PFOA, its salts, and related compounds not covered by the conventions. It includes the two-dimensional structural formulas of some substances in the illustrative lists. The "Updated Indicative List of PFHxS and Its Salts and Related Compounds" specifies illustrative lists of PFHxS, its salts, and related compounds covered under the Stockholm Convention, including the two-dimensional structural formulas of some substances in the illustrative lists. This list is intended to guide China in conducting regulatory work on long-chain PFCAs and their salts and related compounds, perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) and its salts and related compounds, and perfluorohexane sulfonic acid (PFHxS) and its salts and related compounds under the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants.
