Industrial Chemicals Categorisation Guidelines (2026 Edition)

The guidelines explain the terms and definitions related to the Australian Industrial Chemicals Act 2019 (General Rules) and provide further details on matters such as the classification list of high-hazard chemicals. It serves as a guidance tool for importers of industrial chemicals into Australia to determine the import category of substances under the Australian Industrial Chemicals Act 2019 and must be used in conjunction with the Australian Industrial Chemicals Act 2019 (General Rules). This version updates the list of classified high-hazard chemicals; adds five chemical substances to Section 6.5.2 of the guide; revises the definition of “chemical identity holder”; and includes other updates.
