Main Content
This regulation specifies the materials and articles intended to come into contact with food in Switzerland, including definitions, labeling, quality assurance, materials, and objects made of metal or metal alloys, plastic materials and articles, recycled plastic materials and articles, regenerated cellulose film materials and articles, ceramic, glass, enamel, or other similar materials and articles, paper or cardboard materials and articles, paraffin, wax and dyes, silicone materials and articles, packaging inks, active or intelligent materials and objects, varnishes and coatings. Food cover materials that integrate with foods such as cheese, meat products, delicatessen products, or fruits and may be consumed are not considered materials and articles. Materials that come into contact with drinking water must comply with the requirements specified in the December 16, 2016 ordinance of the Federal Department of Home Affairs on drinking water and water used in publicly accessible bathing and showering facilities.
