On May 13, 2025, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced significant adjustments to the data submission deadlines under the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) for per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) and PFAS-containing products. The revised timelines are detailed below:

Reasons and Background for Adjustments
The extension stems from the EPA’s need for additional time to refine its data reporting system. Under a rule issued in October 2023, all entities that manufactured or imported PFAS or PFAS-containing products between 2011 and 2022 are required to submit detailed data on chemical exposure, environmental impacts, and health effects. The EPA stated that the delay aims to accommodate technical system upgrades and provide sufficient time for potential future rule adjustments. This revision only affects deadlines; other TSCA requirements remain unchanged.
Public Comment Period
The interim final rule took effect on May 13, 2025. The public may submit comments via the Federal eRulemaking Portal by June 12, 2025 (reference docket number EPA-HQ-OPPT-2020-0549). Confidential Business Information (CBI) or restricted data must follow separate statutory submission procedures.
