On 27 May 2025, ECHA released IUCLID 6 (v9.0.1). Companies can now use it to prepare intention notifications under the EU Drinking Water Directive and submit notifications for microplastic restrictions under REACH. The update involves format changes impacting specific stakeholders:

  • EU REACH and CLP: Updated reporting requirements for microplastic restrictions.
  • EU BPR: Streamlined inventory and record-keeping for authorisation of use.
  • EU DWD: Enhanced formats to support future notifications and applications.
  • EU EFSA: Added work scenarios for food contact materials, synergists and safety agents, and updated EFSA-specific formats.

All fixes and improvements are detailed in the release notes, such as adjusted report templates and validation rules. It is advisable to review the FAQ on the website before upgrading. IUCLID, widely used for chemical information submission and management, now better equips businesses to handle the complex EU chemical regulatory framework more efficiently and cost-effectively, ensuring smooth market access and compliance in the EU.
