On June 4, 2025, Taiwan's Chemicals Administration, Ministry of Environment, announced that registrants of four existing chemical substances: antimony trioxide, sulfuric acid, toluene, and zinc oxide are required to complete the registration of hazard and exposure assessment data and will hold an online briefing to this effect.
According to the Regulations of New and Existing Chemical Substances Registration, registrants who have completed the first phase of standard registration for 106 existing chemical substances are required to submit relevant hazard and exposure assessment data either proactively or within a deadline specified by the competent authority.
To advance the assessment process, the Chemical Substance Bureau selected antimony trioxide (CAS No. 1309-64-4), sulfuric acid (CAS No. 7664-93-9), toluene (CAS No. 108-88-3), and zinc oxide (CAS No. 1314-13-2) as examples for establishing hazard assessment reports. Registrants must confirm these example reports by the end of 2025 and complete the registration of hazard and exposure assessment information for the designated substances by the end of 2026.
To clearly explain the registration requirements, deadlines, methods for confirming examples, and submission standards, the bureau scheduled an online briefing from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM on June 18, 2025. The meeting agenda includes:
- Introduction to the standard registration norms for existing chemical substances (10:00-10:20)
- Designated registration practices for hazard and exposure assessment data (10:20-11:00)
- Explanation of data submission methods (11:00-11:30)
- Comprehensive Q&A and discussion (11:30-12:00)
Registrants (especially enterprises involved with the aforementioned four substances) can complete their registration for the briefing by noon on June 17 via the online form (https://forms.gle/yH1nTqH3hTGSYdEA6).
Enterprise Reminder
All enterprises involved with these chemical substances should pay close attention to this briefing to ensure they understand and comply with the latest registration requirements. Additionally, enterprises should use this opportunity to raise any questions or concerns to ensure the correct submission of all relevant data and to avoid potential compliance risks.
