India Publishes QCOs for 3 Substances and Postpones Enforcement for 3 Others

On Feb 26, 2024, the Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals (DCPC), Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, published Quality Control Orders (QCOs) for three petrochemical substances in the Gazette of India. The following day, on Feb 27, the DCPC published another notification in the Gazette postponing the enforcement of the QCOs for three other substances.

In accordance with the new QCOs, goods or article specified in the Table shall conform to the corresponding Indian Standard and bear the Standard Mark under a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) applied by relevant manufactures. The Orders do not apply to chemicals intended for export only. The BIS shall be the certifying and enforcing authority, bearing responsibility for quality certification and supervision of the specified goods or article.

Delay of QCOs Implementation Date for Three Substances (Feb 27 announcement)

The QCOs for the following three substances were previously implemented on February 29, 2024, and the new implementation dates are set as follows:
