A substance was added to the List of Concerned Chemical Substances in Taiwan-May 23,2025

Time: May 23, 2025

On May 13, 2025, Taiwan's Ministry of the Environment announced important amendments to the "Listed Chemicals of Concern and Their Operational Management Regulations." These revisions aim to strengthen the management of chemical substances to better protect the environment and public health.

The announcement indicates that N'-tert-butyl-N-cyclopropyl-6-(methylthio)-1,3,5-triazine-2,4-diamine (Cybutryne), a substance used in ship antifouling systems, has been included in the control scope of the International Convention on the Control of Harmful Anti-fouling Systems on Ships (AFS Convention) by Resolution MEPC.76 of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) due to its potential environmental risks. To align with international trends, Taiwan has decided to add Cybutryne to the List of Chemicals of Concern and establish its control concentration and operational requirements.
