Recently, the national standard "Marine Coatings — Part 1: Oil Tank Coatings" (Plan No. 20253614-T-606) was opened for public comment, with a feedback deadline of 21 August 2026. The standard revises GB/T 6746-2008 "Marine Oil Tank Coatings" and, once officially published, will update the technical requirements and test methods for marine oil tank coatings; relevant manufacturers should submit comments before the deadline and assess their products' compliance accordingly.

The standard applies to marine oil tank coatings used for loading oils other than special oils such as aviation gasoline and aviation kerosene, and covers product requirements, test methods, inspection rules, and marking, packaging, transport and storage. It is under the technical committee TC5 (National Technical Committee on Coatings and Pigments Standardization), executed by its subcommittee on steel-structure anti-corrosion coating systems (TC5SC9), with the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation as the supervising body; comments may be submitted via the National Standard Information Public Service Platform.

Manufacturers of marine oil tank coatings and related ship-supporting coatings should follow the technical changes in this revision and submit comments to the responsible committee before 21 August based on their actual products; once the standard is published, they should promptly adjust their product technical specifications and testing to ensure compliance.
