On December 29, 2023, China’s Ministry of Commerce, the General Administration of Customs, and the Ministry of Ecology and Environment jointly published the list of goods prohibited from export (eighth batch) and the list of goods prohibited from import (ninth batch). These 2 batches of goods cover PFOS products which shall be effective from January 1, 2024.
All these measures are formulated to regulate the circulation of PFOS products in the international trade. However, PFOS products can be used for R&D research and for reference products.
Products included in the list of goods prohibited from export and import are not allowed to imported or exported from China and any violations will be subject to stringent punishments. These measures reflect China’s commitment and positive attitude toward economic development and environmental protection. The implementation of these measures will have a significant impact on relevant enterprises involving PFOS products, especially those involving the import and export of PFOS products. Under these measures, enterprises shall adjust their strategies and comply with management measures.
